These terms apply when you buy a membership, day pass, stamp card, orientation, class, workshop, gift card, fabric or other product from BeaHive Collective LLC. Please read them before you buy. By checking out, you agree to these terms.
Before you use the studio: Orientation
Everyone must complete a BeaHive Studio Orientation and sign our Liability Waiver before using the studio or any equipment. Orientation covers safe use of our industrial machines, the booking system and studio rules. It costs $65 (group or 1:1 by appointment). Orientation is included free with a Founding Membership.
Orientation credit: your $65 orientation fee is credited toward a Standard or Professional Membership if you join before your stamp card expires, or within 30 days of your orientation if you bought a single day pass or orientation only.

Recent Graduate rate for people who graduated in the past 12 months, with a 3-month minimum.
Membership hours
- Hours reset each billing month. Unused hours do not roll over.
- Need more time? Extra hours can be added for $15/hour, purchased before you use them. Please stay within your hours; repeatedly going over may lead to your membership being changed or ended.
- Your billing month starts on the day you join.
- Hours are tracked by your bookings and check-in.
- Memberships are for one person and can't be shared or transferred.
Add-ons (Founding and Standard members)
- Storage bag: $10/month · Locker: $20/month · Client fitting space: $10/hour. Included for Professional members.
- Items left in storage are at your own risk. If you cancel, please remove your items within 7 days. Items left after that may be donated or discarded.
Automatic renewal and how to cancel
Monthly memberships are billed automatically to the card you used at checkout, on the same day each month, until you cancel. Prices are shown before checkout and in your confirmation email.
To cancel: log in to your account on beahivecollective.com and cancel your subscription online, or email Beatriz@beahivecollective.com. Cancel at least 3 days before your next billing date to avoid being charged for the next month. Your membership stays active until the end of the month you paid for. We don't give partial-month refunds.
Pausing (freezing) a membership
Standard and Professional members may pause their membership for up to 2 months per year (together or separately) by emailing us before their billing date. Pausing longer than that cancels the membership.
Guest passes
Members may buy a Guest Pass ($45) to bring one guest for one day. The guest must complete a short safety walk-through and sign the waiver, may only visit while the member is in the studio, and the member is responsible for the guest's behavior and any damage. Bringing guests without a pass may result in a $95 fee. Guests who come only for a fitting in the fitting space don't need a pass.
Fitting space
Book the fitting space ahead by texting (619) 788-1872 or emailing Beatriz@beahivecollective.com, during regular studio hours, for up to 2 hours at a time unless it's open after that. Please leave it clean for the next person.
Day passes and stamp cards
- Day Pass — $45: one day of studio access during regular studio hours.
- 5-Day Stamp Card — $135: five studio days, to be used within 3 months of purchase.
- 10-Day Stamp Card — $250: ten studio days, to be used within 6 months of purchase.
- Passes and stamp cards are valid during regular studio hours only (Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, Sat–Sun 9am–4pm), and require completed orientation and a booking.
- Passes and stamp cards are non-refundable and for one person only.
Booking machines and tables
Members and pass holders book machines and cutting tables ahead of time by texting (619) 788-1872 or emailing Beatriz@beahivecollective.com. Please cancel a booking you can't use at least 12 hours ahead so others can use the spot. Repeated no-shows may lose booking privileges.
Classes and workshops
- Class fees are paid when you register. Spots are limited (most workshops are capped at 9 people; kids' classes at 6).
- If you cancel at least 7 days before the class, you'll get your choice of a full refund or studio credit. Less than 7 days before: no refund, but you may send a friend in your place.
- If we cancel or reschedule a class (for example, illness), you can choose a full refund or a spot on another date.
- Minimum sign-ups: classes need at least 3 students to run. If a class doesn't fill, we'll let you know at least 48 hours ahead and you can choose a full refund or another date.
- Multi-week classes are sold as a series; single sessions can't be bought separately. If you miss a session, you may make it up in another session in the same month, if space allows.
- New to industrial machines? First Industrial Stitches is recommended before orientation. If you already have industrial machine experience, you can go straight to orientation.
- Materials included in a class are listed on the class page.
- Member workshop discounts apply at checkout with a discount code.
Kids' classes
Kids' sewing classes are for ages 8–12. A parent or guardian must register, sign the waiver for the child, and drop off and pick up on time. Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before class. Late pick-up more than 10 minutes after class may be charged $1 per minute. A 4-class pack ($160) is for one child, for the dates listed at purchase. Missed classes in a pack can be made up only when you let us know at least 24 hours ahead.
Gift cards
BeaHive gift cards can be used for memberships, passes, classes and shop purchases. Gift cards do not expire and have no fees. They can't be redeemed for cash except where required by California law (balances under $10 can be cashed out on request). Treat gift cards like cash — we can't replace lost cards. The $65 orientation credit applies only to Standard or Professional membership gift months.
Fabric and shop purchases
Returns, exchanges and refunds for fabric and shop items are covered by our Returns & Refunds policy.
Alterations and custom services
Alterations, custom swimwear, pattern drafting and sample making are quoted separately. Custom work requires a 50% non-refundable deposit, with the balance due at pickup. Items not picked up within 60 days may be donated.
Price changes
We may change prices for new purchases at any time. If we raise the price of a monthly membership, we'll give current members at least 30 days' notice by email before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then. Founding Membership prices are locked for your 12-month term.
Suspension or termination
Theft or threatening behavior means immediate removal and loss of membership without refund. We may also suspend or end studio access, without refund, for anyone who breaks the Studio Rules, Safety Policy or these terms, damages equipment on purpose or through careless use, or makes the studio unsafe or unwelcoming for others.
Failed payments
If a monthly payment fails, we'll email you. Studio access may be paused until payment goes through. After 7 days unpaid, the membership may be canceled.
Your responsibility for risk
Using industrial equipment has real risks. Every purchase of studio access or a class is subject to our Liability Waiver, which you sign at orientation or before your first class. You agree to follow the Studio Rules and Safety Policy at all times.
Indemnity
You agree to cover BeaHive Collective LLC's losses, costs and reasonable attorney's fees if a claim is made against us because of your actions, your guests' actions, your work or products made in our studio, or your breaking these terms.
Your work and products
You are fully responsible for anything you make, sell or deliver to your own clients using our studio, including its quality, safety, labeling and legal compliance. BeaHive is not a party to agreements between you and your clients.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law: BeaHive is not responsible for lost profits, lost work, missed deadlines, or indirect or consequential damages, including when a machine breaks down, a booking is unavailable, or the studio has to close unexpectedly. Our total liability for any claim related to your purchase or membership is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under California law.
Studio closures and equipment
Machines need maintenance and sometimes break. We may close the studio, block off equipment, or change hours for repairs, classes, events, holidays, building issues or emergencies. We'll post planned closures in advance when we can. Short closures and equipment downtime don't entitle members to refunds or credits. If we close for more than 7 days in a row, we'll extend or credit affected memberships.
Disputes
If there's a problem with a charge or a purchase, please contact us first. See our Disputes & Billing Issues page.
Entire agreement and changes
These terms, together with the Liability Waiver, Studio Rules, Safety Policy, Returns & Refunds policy, Disputes page and Privacy Policy, are the full agreement between you and BeaHive. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update these terms; changes apply to purchases made and billing periods starting after we post them. If we don't enforce a rule right away, we can still enforce it later.
